Toolbar Installation issue with XP SP2

A few users have emailed me, saying that when they have installed the toolbar they have been unable to activate it from the Internet Explorer 'View > Toolbars' menu. They reported that the accessibility toolbar menu item is there but it is "greyed out". I have tracked down the problem. To solve this issue:

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to the 'tools > internet options > programs > manage add-ons' dialog

internet explorer manage add-ons dialog box
  2. Ensure that the accessibility toolbar status is set to enabled.
  3. restart IE and the 'accessibility toolbar' menu item will now be available.
